May Toyama is looking for an escape from her traumatic past. She enrolls in Wordsworth, a girls' home located in the small mountain town known as Le Choara, where it is rumored that her sister, Sanae, was last seen. Full of hope, Mai seeks to find her relative, but soon discovers terrifying inhabitants lurking in the city after dark. At night, the streets of Le Choara are full of Shadow Matter - a horrible group of menacing creatures. After every corner of the pavement, Mai discovers that the hope of finding her sister lies beneath the long-buried secrets that haunt Le Choara.
