The world is on the brink. Lack of resources, diseases caused by polluted air and water, growing crime, war. Governments and companies promise remedies through technological progress.

Humanoid drones and robots are replacing people in the public sector, everything is interconnected, surveillance has become ubiquitous.

Richard Nolan is one of the few journalists to openly criticize this development. When he wakes up in the hospital after an explosion and finds that his wife and son have mysteriously disappeared, Richard realizes: he and his family have become more than just spectators in a storm of rival ideas about saving humanity, between dystopian reality and digital utopia. Instead, it is right in the middle.
